Why this is a one man operation on purpose

Most towing companies you call in Central Florida are running a dispatch desk. You describe your situation to someone in an office, they radio whoever is closest, and a driver you have never spoken to arrives at your car. Nobody in that chain is accountable to you personally, and if something goes wrong you are passed between two people who each think it was the other one.

Vic’s works the other way round. Vic answers his own phone, quotes his own jobs and drives his own truck. If he tells you forty minutes, he is the one who has to be there in forty minutes. If your car gets a scratch, there is nobody else to blame and he knows it before he touches the vehicle.

That does mean he is not everywhere at once. On a busy night you might get a realistic time rather than an optimistic one. Most people would rather hear the truth on the phone than sit on a kerb wondering.

The person who quotes the job is the person who drives out and does it.

Why the dollies matter

An all wheel drive vehicle dragged on two wheels can destroy its transfer case and differentials. It is one of the most common and most expensive things a careless tow does to a car, and the damage does not show up until weeks later.

Vic carries dollies so all four wheels come off the ground, and takes a flatbed to anything lowered or too damaged to roll. It takes longer at the roadside. It is cheaper than a gearbox.
